Tortured Felt purses

Sorry, I scanned them sideways and forgot to change their orientation. You will just have to view them sideways. I put a few fabric inchies on the small purse. Took me less than an hour to make the two purses. You are seeing picts of each side. I'm not a person who sews much. It did not take me long at all. I used that little Provo Craft mini sewing machine. If you get one, then make sure you get the plug-in adaptor (does not come with it). I was wondering what to do after I tortured the poor felt.

How I tortured this felt: I took some acrylic paints and just randomly plopped some down on the felt. I then used a brush and blended some of the areas together. I made sure I left large spots unpainted. I found out that felt melts very easily and creates holes and lattice type holes in the unpainted areas. When using your heat gun, please do it in a well ventilated area. I do mine in my freezing garage. I put the heat gun to the spots that were not painted until I got holes, holes, and more holes. You can tell where there are holes from the red fabric underneath the felt.

I was not sure what to do with the poor, tortured felt. I did not want to make ATPs with them. I am hosting a swap for tortured felt in my Art Techniques group. Elizabeth is teaching this technique to us this month as the February technique of the month. The link to the group is on the right, if you are interested in joining our group. We play, we swap, we chat, and we learn from each other.

Comments welcome. This a departure from what I usually do.

I have played around with heat and felt and love the results but I never thought of painting it first! You're just full of ideas.
