Artist of the Week is...

Sheri Leseberg!
Name: Sheri Leseberg

Nickname: Too Tall ( I'm 6'2")

Email Address: justdoonart2day@yahoo.com

Website and/or Blog: http://blendedcolors.blogspot.com

What Yahoo groups do you belong to? art techniques, artezine cafe, artjournals, collage cats

What kind of art do you like to do? Paintings, mixed-media, collage

What materials do you work a lot with on a regular basis? paint, paper, oil pastels

What type of materials would you not touch if it was even given to you? Well I'm just not good at sewing, at all! I've tried and just don't like it.

Do you like to peel stuff off your fingers or not? I think I like it... if you mean paint and glue. My kids help me to peel it off too.

Do you "collect" something? Awsome art, and angels.... big ones , little ones, pink ones (even though I don't like pink) tall ones... etc etc

What else do you do when you are working on something art related? Listen to music and sometimes get up and walk around the room, you know get a different perspective on my piece.

Is your art area messy or kinda neat? oh I'm definately a messy artist, I'm always getting up the next day thinking I'm all cleaned up from painting, only to have the kids say "Hey there's somthing on your forehead."

Who or what has influenced your artwork the most up to this point? My grandmother was an awsome artist, she made the most amazing landscape paintings. Also Somerset Studio Magazine is where it all kinda started for me as far as collage and mixed-media.

Are you a self-taught artist? I had four yrs. in High School, AP art class, then I took about three mths. of classes at an art college but changed my mind, the rest is all me.

Tell me about the day you realized you were a "real" artist? When somone asked me to paint a huge painting, of red tulips.

What colors speak to you? Everything but pink.. I just can't seem to make anything wonderfull with it.

What colors do you absolutely abhor? Pink

What do you think is being overdone right now? Hats and wings... I mean I get it but you know the Macarena was only popular for so long too.

Do you have a day or 2nd shift job? nope, I'm a full-time homeschooling momma.

What would you rather be doing than the above job? Nothing, I love what I do.

Do you do "cute"? not really , I mean is frou frou "cute"?

Have you been published in a national art magazine or even want to do that? Somerset Studio

Do you do something the first time and leave it or do you go back and work it some more until you get it "just right"? Somtimes I like what I've made , but usually I look at it again the next day and see somthing that needs help or could be changed, and I fiddle with it a little and then usually call it done.

When do you feel most satisfied in your art process? I think there's always a stopping point, and sometimes the piece will speak to me , like we always hear artists say.... I really do like to wait till the next day though , and go back and look at it again. That's when I'm satisfied.

How do you lose yourself and forget about everything else? painting , and stretching

Tell me about a vice that you have. Hats and wings that I semi explained above.

Anything you want to ask me or anything else you want to add? How long have you been an artist and is soldering scary? oh and thanx for doing this for your fellow artist.

Thanks for featuring Sheri! She is awesome. BTW, I read some of your other posts and saw you doing a paint crackle technique on tags. Did you ever try doing it with elmer's glue? I saw it in Claudine Hellmuth's Book.
