Book Review: Semiprecious Salvage

Semiprecious Salvage by Stephanie Lee. I saw this book at B&N. I ended up ordering it at Amazon. I really like the full-color pictures with lots of detail. This is a technique book where there are step-by-step instructions with little picts to go along with it.


Even though I think of myself as an experienced found object/jewelry artist, I got a lot from this book. I gleaned a lot of information from it. I do a lot with copper sheet and with wire. I have a ton of found objects waiting for the right project. There is one project with metal etching, which I have wanted to do but have not had the chance to yet. I am waiting for the summer when I can do it in my garage. It also has a project with resin. This book is not for a jewelry newbie. The book assumes you have some knowledge of what you are doing. I am not saying a newbie cannot do it, but may need a more detailed explanation than the book gives.


I really liked the pages pendant. I will have to try that one soon. Marking it now. A lot of bezels, a lot of resin, some funky jewelry, and some soldering. All stuff I love to do! This is a book for more advanced artists who are experienced with metal work, resin, wire wrapping, Dremel, and being able to use a torch.
