Miss Scarlet's Blog Tour - Chance to win two books!

Artists, crafters, and avid readers,

This is your chance to win TWO copies of this awesome book. I will use the random number generator on Tuesday (3/8) to chose two lucky people to get two copies (1copy each) to kick off my part of the block tour for Kathy Cano-Murillo's great book: Miss Scarlets's School of Patternless Sewing.

What do you need to do to win? Well, you need to leave me a comment telling me what you interests you most when you read. What puts you in that other world when you are reading? Come back on Tuesday to check to see if you are one of the winners. I will need a name and address by Saturday, March 12th, or I will have to select another winner.

What a great question. When I read I like for the book to give me visuals. Words that take me on a journey. Thanks for sharing the books. I love the Chica!

Wow, what a wonderful giveaway. It would be great to win. What really takes me into another world when I read is something sci-fi, I find I imagine the outerworldly setting and find myself flying in space along with the storymakers. Or thrillers when my heart beats along with the story. I often will dream about the book when I really get into it. Linda

I love reading about mixed media, techniques - this book looks great! I love eye candy, but I really love seeing the process. I like craft/sewing/mixed media books which show how to do something to inspire you to do your own. Thanks for the giveaway!

What interests me most are clear instructions, sinfully delicious photos, creative green techniques and shiny new products. I rarely actually read the instructions, but the photos rev up my imagination and take me in strange and wonderful directions. A good photo sends me to the moon as my mind whirls away in creative nirvana, only slowing to jot down vague shards from a kaleidoscope ideas. Books are the best!!!!

I need to be taken by either a great plot or fascinating information that captures my attention which is not easy for me.
That takes a good writer. That is why I love your blog when I can get to it.It never fails to capture my attention and give me riviting information.
If you say Cathy's book is that, I will take your word.As a non-sewer who hopes to, I look forward to hearing her style too.

Ooo... I love Kathy!
What interests me most when reading... A great description. Not overly wordy for the sake of being descriptive, but something *well-worded* can really transport me. There's real talent in that!

This would be great in my arsenal of Creative Media! I love great directions and explicit creative visual instructions in my Art Media Books. Comparative techniques too!
Novels and Plays, I like to go somewhere that I can imagine as real. Nero Wolf, the Flowers, the recipes, the characters, they all give you something wonderful back.

What interests me most when reading is what inspires me, what fascinates me, what sparks my curiosity... so it can be about mixed media (I love learning all kinds of techniques) or a thriller that takes my breath away, or about astrology (I study astrology for many years now) or a book about a family saga. Just too many books to read and so little time... Thanks for the chance to win the book, it looks fabulous!

Thanks, Belinda, for this opportunity of a book win. Thought-provoking beginnings suck me in - not a series of questions, but jumping right into the thick of a dilemma in which a choice needs to be made.

Thanks for the opportunity to win a book. I am totally in love with mixed media, after all its a chance to use multiple types of art materials and TOOLS together, and I am a tool fan! Love to use resin (UV Resin) and am looking into encaustics. Sewing is a very old love, I guess like piano to a musician, so to find ways to incorporate sewing with anything else is very pleasing.

A writer's ability to immediately transport me into their world and keep me there by the power of their worlds is what makes a great read. Hope I win!

what interests me most when I read? Poetic words that ebb and flow. Descriptions that allow me to close my eyes and visualize. In non-fiction, I appreciate a sense of humor and clear, concise writing, not a bunch of high powered hogwash words that leaves you going "huh?" Thanks for offering the giveaway, it sounds awesome!

Love being inspired by creativity books- always dream of what I will make. Maybe this year I'll do some of my imaginings.
Love a who-dun-it to puzzle along with, but frankly I suffer withdrawal symptoms if there isn't something around for me to read!

I like to read technique books and scifi/fantasy. So I guess what takes me away is a book that sends my mind into creation mode and pushes me to think in different ways or that takes me into other worlds and pushes me to think in different ways. Sharon

I'm so excited for this book to come out! I have her first one!

I always love a good mystery. Really gets my brain thinking and I can forget about what is going on outside the book.

The characters & background descriptions are what interest me the most. These two things set the visual stage for the "movie" that takes place in my imagination. This is why it is very difficult for me to read a book, and then go see a movie based on that book. My idea of what a character should look, dress, move and speak like are almost always very different from the screenwriter's chosen interpretation of the book content.

Hi Belinda! Another world eh... pictures and thoughts I never thought of before, new techniques, new simple thoughts about the mind or how we work. Trying to understand the human soul and art, or both too as they relate to each other. Sanna

This is a good question-I like fiction (mainly suspense mysteries) to take me away from reality and I read non fiction to learn new techniques and approaches to the artistic world-this also takes me away from reality and spurs me on to try new things!

I love to see poetry mixed in with the visuals. Also like to know who the artist considers as strong influences on the work. Lots of pics of course. Also like to know personal journey of the artist and a few easy recipes for soups thrown in is fun. I like examples and directions with photos. Also like to feel that we r having a chat together in the studio. Hope this helps

I love to read and I will read just about anything. It depends on what author I am into at the moment. I have been reading a bunch of Preston & Child books lately. I also read Karen Moning's new book. And last weekend I got the latest Apronology and I have been reading it over and over. I've actually pulled out some fabric to make an apron. As long as I am enjoying whatever it is I am reading I will just block everything else out and get into it.

I like to have something to figure out while I read. So I love nonfiction how-to-do-it books especially art and cooking. For fiction, I like mysteries.

I love a good mystery. I think that is why I love to create. The what iffing that I do along the way in a project is the plot, the mystery is trying to remember all the steps (clues) I used to create the finished product. Great writing that sucks me in and transports me wether fiction or non-fiction makes my day.

I know the book is good when I read the first sentence. It has to be a major draw and by the end of the first paragraph, you hang on to the book just to finish the page, the next page, and the next. Word usage captures the imagination and creates mental pictures, emathetic emotions, real scents, and imaginary sounds. If only we could capture 3-D video clips of the mind when reading a good book...
