Taking time for yourself

I am usually a very busy person. I teach, take care of my two kids and dh, and am always doing something or another. Traveling soccer takes up 4-5 days a week for 46 weeks out of the year. I am always telling people that they need to take time for themselves. Others, like me, do so much for others, that they forget to take care of themselves. I have been guilty of the same thing. I have been so busy with the art, school, and kids, that I have not really done anything for me, myself, and I. I am always saying "no" to things because I don't have the time. I just realized this on Friday when a good art friend, Shari, asked me out for coffee. My first thought was to say "no", but then I thought about it and said "yes". I am glad that I did because it was a lot of fun to just sit there and chat with her for awhile. It was also nice to be able to look for books without my two kids in tow. It didn't hurt my dh to put my kids to bed for once. So, Shari and my other friends, thanks for taking me away from things for awhile. I have to remember that I sometimes need to drop everything and go outside to play for awhile.

I am so glad that you did say YES and I had a really fun time too! It makes me happy that you are thinking about "taking time for you". You are such a generous, special woman and you do need to nurture yourself as well as others. I love that we have become friends and I hope that we get to spend more time together soon.
