My funky paper towels
I have one more funky journal to create for Artful Gathering's closing. I am also selling my extra fixins' that I have from making the funky journals. I wanted some dyed paper towels samples to go in with the fixins'. This time instead of color wash, I used stamp reinkers. I just used red, blue, green, and mustard reinkers. I put some water in some plastic bowls. I loaded the water with reinkers and stirred. I folded the paper towels into squares and into triangles. I also just scrunched the towels and twisted them up. I just kept dipping the towel in different spots into different colors. At the end, I squished the dyed towel together gently on an old towel to make sure the colors were absorbed. I gently peeled them apart making sure not to tear them. The kind of paper towel I used was more clothlike - I think it was Viva (not sure though). These will not open up into two separate layers. I have tried and failed. I loved the vibrant colors and was brought back to my childhood. I was a 70's child and loved to wear tie dye shirts. You might want to wear plastic gloves if you don't like dirty fingers. It takes me awhile to get the color off my fingers.
