Life without soccer

I have been really sick for the last couple of weeks so I have not done any art or posted anything on my blog. I am slowly getting better. I am mostly sleeping when I am not at school or being soccer mom.

I don't remember what life was like before soccer. My son is in a traveling soccer team. He is playing up a year and is on a platinum 1 team. I feel like I am always at a practice, game, or tournament. Well, today there was no practice, game, or anything soccer related. We went to downtown Naperville today to pick up an autographed book for him. It has been awhile since we have made an excursion like this. We all went as a family. We walked around in the balmy weather and took in all the changes in downtown Naperville that we had not noticed before. We had a fun dinner at Noodles and then had some chocolate dessert at a nearby candy store. We ended our evening at Barnes and Noble. We ended the evening early so he could do his homework and then watch Dancing with The Stars. It was really nice to be able to go out after school and just roam around without looking at my watch to see what time it was.

I am just amazed by how much my life has changed since having children. Now that they are getting a bit older and more independent, it is much easier for us to do things. Funny, the things we do are so far removed from things I used to do. I never did art when I was younger. Gotta go now and watch Death Proof AGAIN before I have to return it to the video store.
