What American Accent do I have?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Yep, this is me all right. I kept saying the words out loud to myself when I was taking the test. Whenever I go up to Wisconsin or meet people from other areas, they tell me that I have a heavy accent. I look at them and wonder what they are talking about! I guess I do have an accent and just don't hear it.

BTW, I live in a western suburb of Chicago. I have lived in the Chicago area all my life. Don't annoy me by saying the "s" at the end of Illinois.

Mine was WRONG (at least as far as where I'm originally from). I always say I don't think I have an accent and that's what the quiz showed. It said I'm from the midland but I was born and raised in CT. Since college though I've lived all over the country.

This use to annoy me also but now It doesn"t I live in florida the last 3 years but have been an Illinoian the rest of my life!Born and raised in Joliet and later raised my daughter in Southern illinois Robinson and later moved back home to Joliet to take care of my dad til he passed away. I never thought I had an accent until i moved to southern Illinois and they told me all the time I had a chicago accent..I use to say what is that!!! I use to tell them they had a southern hillbilly accent because they were tarred instead of tired. How annoying is thst! Hugs,Ina

Not even an Australian would pronounce the "s" !
I guess we get our US pronunciation from the TV so that makes us either Californian or New Yorkers :-)
